The Maltese Islands are made up of Malta, Gozo, Comino, Cominetto, Filfla, St. Paul's Island and Manuel Island. These groups of Islands form the Maltese Archipelago. Malta is strategly situated 93 km (58miles) south of Sicily and 290 km (180miles) from North Africa. Gozo and Comino are the only other inhabited Islands. 

The Island is characterised by low hills with terraced fields, valleys, cliffs can be seen mostly in the western part of Malta and Gozo. Its coastline is gifted with natural beautiful harbours, bays, creeks, sandy beaches, rocky caves and peninsulas. Gozo is connected to Malta by ferry or helicopter. Comino is the smallest island and is well known for it's clear Turquoise water named "Blue Lagoon". No mountains, rivers, lakes, volcanos, waterfalls and minerals are found in Malta. 

Population: Approximately one third of a million spread in towns and villages especially in the south.

Area: 31.6 sq. km (122 sq meters)

Capital City: Valletta Population approximately 7146 located in south east of Malta and was built on a hill called Mount Sciberras by the knights of Malta in the 16th Century. Rich in history, Valletta is the hub of commercial activity. Besides a great number of shops, one can find the Parliament, Law Courts and Government Departments.
